Painting water has always intimidated me, but on my recent trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula I decided to give it a shot and just play with it. I told myself it could be terrible, but I was going to go for it. And I ended up loving it! I found myself standing and dancing with the paintbrush, finding so many colors in Lake Michigan. This is one of my absolute favorite recent paintings. What a gift to find freedom in something I’d previously feared.
This is the first of my water paintings. Many to come.
